Huntington Library Art Collection
The Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West presents an innovative, web-based digital exhibition with 17 curators responding to the Huntington’s little-known but highly significant Southern California Edison archive. Intended by Edison as a documentary record of the corporation’s growth and technological innovations, the over 70,000 photographs simultaneously captured the landscape, architecture and urban fabric of Los Angeles during this formidable period of development. This online exhibition is also serving as a catalyst for a series of public conversations about Los Angeles, technological change and modernity.
